Dubai has launched a COVID-19 home vaccination drive for seniors to ensure complete safety and wellbeing of the elder citizens. The drive ensures access for senior citizens to avail COVID vaccine from the comfort of their homes.
This initiative is in line with the directives of the Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
UAE with strict compliance to COVID safety protocols has so far recorded over 4.2 million Covid-19 vaccine doses as of 6 February at a distribution rate of 42.48 doses per every 100 people, one of the highest in the world.
As per Dubai Health Authority, arrangements have been made for senior citizens registered under the CDA to receive the vaccine at their homes. The campaign specially focuses on those individuals with multiple health issues and those with a high risk of developing chronic health problems from COVID-19.
The campaign gives special priority to those seniors living alone in Dubai, those who have registered under the Community Development Authority’s ‘Live’ homecare programme and those who hold the ‘Thukher’ card.
According to CDA, the first phase of the campaign is expected to vaccinate 8,000 senior citizens. This initiative reflects the amount of care the government invests in protecting the vulnerable sections of the community as well as offering best medical care to the senior citizens.
