Yet another milestone in the Dubai SME’s, the agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) endeavors to support and nurture SMEs is the widely acclaimed MoU signed between the Dubai SME and the retail Giant Carrefour to support the members of Dubai SME through the display of their products at Carrefour hypermarkets and supermarkets.
Dubai SME has always taken efficient and innovative measures to create a conducive environment for Small and Middle Scale Enterprises to excel in business as SMEs act as catalysts in the economic growth of UAE. An ace move of creating a platform to boost the sales of many retail SMEs is this Memorandum of Understanding with the retail giant Majid Al Futtaim Retail. Carrefour is a subsidiary of Majid Al Futtaim Retail and is UAE’s leading chain of supermarkets and hypermarkets.
The agreement aims at not only bringing more retail SMEs to display their products but also will improve competitiveness among the members of Dubai SME, thereby bringing more available products and options for the people. More sales will directly promote the revenue of SMEs thereby initiating a significant contribution to GDP increase of the nation.
Looking at it from the SMEs angle, this is a great opportunity to reach a large segment of customers without much promotional activities. The target customer segment will be clearly defined and feedback and customer response will be more accurate and accessible.
The MoU was signed at the Dubai SME headquarters by His Excellency Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO, Dubai SME and Miguel Povedano, Executive Regional Director, Carrefour UAE in the presence of number of executives and officials from both sides. His Excellency Al Janahi said “Dubai SME is seeking to help develop small and medium enterprises by partnering with the private sector, thereby increasing their Operational productivity and customer reach and sees a promising future for retail SMEs to harness Carrefour’s poularity an dtheir convenient locations”
He also added that its Dubai SMEs focus to explore opportunities and benefits for Dubai SME members to get the best result of their businesses and this agreement will aid members to promote their products, in particular, fresh food, groceries, household and electrical appliances and textiles. Commenting on the same, Mr. Miguel Povedano, Executive Regional Director at Majid Al Futtaim Retail said “We are proud of this partnership with Dubai SME, which allows us to become a platform for local companies seeking to achieve growth and development.”
