UAE launches first dedicated natural gas refueling station

Al Falah Street, Abu Dhabi: Adnoc Distribution launched its first specialized compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station. The said station has been completely renovated to provide natural gas vehicles (NGVs) with quick refueling in the city center.

The Al Zahiyah Station, one of 30 Adnoc service stations across the country that serve CNG, is part of a strategic relocation of CNG fueling to more convenient, dedicated sites, giving NGV consumers additional options to refuel their natural gas cars.

According to Eng. Bader Saeed Al Lamki CEO of Adnoc Distribution, CNG demand has gradually increased over the years, both among large scale businesses, such as taxi companies, and among everyday people.

“The new station aims to bring convenient, inner-city access to CNG fueling, with four dedicated pumps. We now have seven stations offering CNG located on Abu Dhabi Island, and many more throughout the UAE,” Al Lamki added.

CNG burns more effectively than traditional fuels, reducing pollutants and carbon emissions. It’s also considered as one of the safest and most cost-effective auto-fuels in the industry.

For more than a decade, Adnoc Distribution has offered the alternative fuel at its service stations. To meet the increased demand for hybrid, natural-gas-powered automobiles, the company aims to add more CNG stations around the UAE.

With the oil prices rising and its industry unpredictable due to current world events, this project gives a positive and good light of hope in the oil industry in the sense of productivity while aiming for sustainability which lies in accordance to UAE’s vision for the future.
